Accessibility

This website has been built to follow current best practice for accessibility of UK Government websites. Many features have been added to aid site comprehension and navigation for users of assistive browsers, some of which are outlined below:

Access keys

Access Keys provide alternative navigation without using a mouse. The site follows UK Government Access Key guidelines:
key 0 - Privacy/legal
key 1 - Accessibility
key A - Home
key B - FAQ
key C - Contact
key D - Site map
key E - Stay Informed
etc...

To use Access Keys hold down either Alt, Ctrl or Shift (depending on your browser) with the Access Key (listed above) and press the Enter key (if required).
Images

Images have alt text where they add to the comprehension of the page. All trivial images have null Alt text.

- Microsoft Internet Explorer: go to the 'View' menu, select 'Text Size' and then either 'Larger' or 'Largest'.
- Firefox: go to the 'View' menu, select 'Text Size' and then either Increase Ctrl + +, Decrease Ctrl + - or Normal Ctrl + 0.
- Opera: go to the 'Tools' menu, select 'Preferences' then click on the 'Web pages' tab. Select the 'normal font' button. A dialogue box appears and provides options to increase/decrease font size, font type, weight and style.
- Netscape Navigator: go to the 'View' menu and choose 'Increase Font' until the text is the size you require.
- Safari: go to the 'View' menu, select 'Make Text Bigger' or 'Make Text Smaller' until the text is the size you require.

Testing of this site was carried out by Amberlight and meets the W3C priority 1 and priority 2 levels.
